Work

We are there for 40+ hours a week and if we’re lucky, we have the opportunity to do amazing work with incredible people! The workplace can also be full of challenges where not so kind people will compete, steal, lie and try and destroy you because of their own insecurities, jealousy or limited qualifications. I remember leading a high visibility project that everyone wanted. When I was selected to be the project manager, my seemingly trusted colleagues, became upset and even began sabotaging the project. I wanted to just give the project back and ask my supervisor to re-assign it to another Division. In the wee hours of the morning, God told me to stay on the project, humble myself and give my absolute best. It was hard to see people turn on me, but God hears conversations in rooms we are not in. He hears the gossip at the water cooler, the set-ups in the break room and the racist jokes at happy hour. God will protect you from people who secretly want to see you fail. He will defend you in front of leadership and remove roadblocks. Many battles at work are brushed off as just personality conflicts but often times God will send people during your assignments to teach us something, to expose our flaws and force us to lean on Him. God will cover you from so-called friends and supervisors who don’t want to see you succeed. He will fight our battles if we relinquish control and surrender.

Work sometimes feels like our second home…

The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from all; he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The Lord will rescue his servants; no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.
— Psalms 34:19-22
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
— Romans 8:37
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
— Job 3:17
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
— Hebrews 4:1
